The 32-year-old, who recently split from girlfriend Kate Mulvany, will remain on screen for another 11 pre-recorded episodes of the drama.
Close friend and director Kate Woods yesterday spoke of a gifted actor who filmed some of his best and most emotionally-challenging work in the weeks before his death.
Woods gave him his breakthrough role in the Changi mini-series in 2001 and worked with him again on All Saints two weeks ago.

"I then bumped into him shopping about five days ago and we shared a laugh and he told me about his plans for a holiday," she said.
"He seemed terrific, but that doesn't mean anything because people keep this stuff to themselves.
"He would have always fought such dark feelings, but God knows what overwhelmed him on Wednesday.
"He gave a very insightful performance about a person dealing with some very tough things," Woods said of Priestley's recent storylines.
